I love the way Lauren and Sunny’s families celebrated this wedding. It wasn’t only the colour, the ceremony, or the ease with which every generation seemed to belong. It was the way distance was asked to surrender, and all of a sudden, a family home in London, Ontario found itself somewhere between India, London, New York, Toronto, California, Chicago and Detroit.

Lauren and Sunny travelled from New York City for their Indian Hindu wedding in London, Ontario, while friends and family crossed countries, borders and oceans to be there with them.

A celebration that brought everyone home

Against the modern architecture of the family residence, the wedding unfolded in brilliant colour and beautiful symbolism. The home and its surrounding grounds became the setting for a celebration shaped by Indian flavours, meaningful traditions and the warmth of two families coming together.

The day began quietly with Lauren and Sunny getting ready, followed by their first look and portraits around the property. From the trees and creek to the contemporary lines of the home, every part of the setting contributed something different to their photographs.

As guests began to arrive, that quiet elegance gave way to the excitement and energy of the celebration ahead.

Meaningful Hindu wedding traditions

Sunny’s baraat made its way along the driveway, filling the property with music, movement and anticipation. It was followed by the milni, as the two families formally welcomed one another before the ceremony.

Beneath the mandap, Lauren and Sunny exchanged floral garlands during the jaimala and took part in a Hindu wedding ceremony rich in symbolism and tradition. Their loved ones gathered closely around them, sharing their blessings before petals filled the air as the newlyweds walked away together.

These traditions were beautiful to photograph, but what made them especially meaningful was the emotion surrounding them. Every ritual felt connected to the people who had travelled so far to witness it.

An elegant celebration filled with colour

The celebration continued with Indian flavours, cocktails and conversations shared among guests from around the world. Later, Lauren and Sunny changed into their reception attire and joined everyone for an evening of speeches, performances, dancing and joyful moments with their families.

It was elegant without feeling restrained, spectacular without losing its intimacy, and deeply rooted in family and tradition.

Lauren and Sunny’s Hindu wedding in London, Ontario was proof that home is not always the place everyone begins. Sometimes, it is simply the place everyone chooses to meet.
